I’ve got a bit of a past, but I’m ready to bust out of this joint and start fresh with the right person. I can be an oddball at first, but the staff has noticed that my “stranger danger” behavior isn’t much of my motto anymore. Being in the shelter has helped me adjust to meeting new people and seeing unfamiliar faces more regularly, and I’ve been learning how to navigate that with time and consistency.
I came to the shelter because I was a bit too much for my previous owners. I’m a stubborn dude, and in my opinion, rules are a little overrated — but I am learning how to be a good dog. I need someone who is confident, stern, and consistent, and who will make sure I follow all the rules (even the ones I pretend not to hear). I do best with structure, clear boundaries, and routine.
While I am generally an only-dog type, I may be able to live with the right female dog who either matches my energy or helps show me how to settle. I have been okay with some male dogs as well, but I do not do well with dogs that match my level of machoness or are confrontational. I currently do decently with Lester, though they have not been kenneled together due to cold weather. Due to my prey drive, I am not a good fit for homes with kids, cats, or other small animals.
I do well in a crate as long as I get regular potty breaks and have things to keep me busy. I enjoy enrichment toys like KONGs, slow feeders, and toys that make me work for my food. If I do have an accident in my crate, I will try to cover it with my bedding. When outside, I can be a bit of an escape artist — I can jump a 10x10 kennel panel, though I have not shown the ability to clear a 12-foot fence. Because of this, I go into a covered outdoor kennel.

I'm Kai, a 1 1/2-year-old boy who came to the shelter with four other dogs, and now I'm the last one still waiting for a home. Everyone used to take me out, but now I don't get out much anymore and I often get overlooked, even though everyone who has taken me out in public or for a weekend visit has had nothing but great things to say about me. I'm not the best fit for homes with small dogs or cats, but I do enjoy playing with confident, dominant dogs that are bigger than me. Since I've grown up here at the shelter and have gone home a couple of times, I've developed a slight fear of men. It takes me a little time to build trust, but with soft, gentle encouragement and patience, I warm up and become a loyal companion. Growing up in the shelter has taken a toll on my mental well-being, and I know I would truly thrive with a loving younger couple who can give me the stability, patience, and consistency I've been missing. I still have a bit of a mischievous side, but I've matured a lot, walk beautifully on a leash without pulling, and I'm crate trained. After a good walk or a play session with my toys, I'm a total couch potato who loves to curl up beside you and will even watch TV with you.

If you've never met a cattle dog or a cattle dog mix before, let me introduce myself—I'm energetic, determined, and full of classic heeler personality. I love to bark, jump, explore every trail, and stay close to my people. While I've been mellowing out since arriving at the shelter, I still have plenty of energy and would love an active home where I can stretch my legs, go on adventures, and keep my mind busy.
One of the best things about me is how loyal I am. Once I bond with my people, I want to be right by their side through everything. Whether you're hiking, working in the yard, or just hanging out at home, I'll happily be your shadow. Cattle dogs are known for their devotion, and I'm no exception.
I'm also house trained and dog friendly, making it even easier for me to settle into the right home.
I'm still learning my manners, but the staff say I'm incredibly smart and eager to learn—especially when treats are involved! I pick up on things quickly and just need someone willing to be patient, consistent, and help me become the best version of myself.
I do have one thing my future family should know: I can be barrier reactive, especially if I have something I consider high value, like a favorite toy, treat, or food. Because of this, I'll do best with someone who understands dog behavior and is committed to continuing my training using positive reinforcement, management, and clear boundaries.

I’m a young gentleman with some of the most unique and eye-catching patterns you’ll ever see. I’ve also been told there isn’t much I can’t jump on—I definitely know how to put my long legs to good use!
I absolutely adore every person I meet and greet them with my signature wiggle-butt enthusiasm. I’m currently working on my potty training, and while it’s still a work in progress, I’m making steady improvements.
I was adopted and spent almost three months in a home before being returned because I was showing typical cattle dog behaviors. As a young herding breed, I need an owner who understands that I thrive with structure, training, and plenty of mental and physical exercise. I’m still very much a puppy who needs help learning good manners and boundaries, but I’m eager to learn and respond well to consistent guidance.

I’m a sweet girl looking for a fresh start. I came to the shelter from a difficult situation and was originally thought to be reactive to dogs and people, but I was really just scared. I can be barrier reactive to new people or dogs, but once I'm out of the kennel and given a little time, I can be a friendly and affectionate girl.
I know how to sit, walk pretty well on a leash, and I’m house trained. Once I get to know you, I’ll happily follow you around the yard. I’m a little older, and while I can be a bit picky about which dogs I like, I have done well with other dogs when introduced properly.
When I first arrived, I had a bad skin infection, was underweight, and had lost much of the hair on my back end. It also seemed like I had never really had toys before because I didn't know what to do with them. Now, I've filled out into a healthy, plump girl, my coat is growing back, and I've discovered that shredding squeaky toys is one of my favorite pastimes! All I need is someone willing to look past my kennel behavior and give me the chance to show them the sweet girl I truly am.

One thing that really helps me is having other dog friends around. I gain a lot of confidence from other dogs, and I absolutely love playing with them. Being part of a group helps me feel safe and brings out my fun, happy side.
I’m also learning how to be more comfortable with humans. I may be shy at first, but I truly want to be friendly with people—I’m just still building my confidence and learning to trust. I’m a Lab mix who came to the shelter from a smaller hoarding situation, so at first I had a lot of pent-up energy from not getting out much. Since being here, I’ve learned to settle down, keep a clean kennel, and enjoy being more of a chill, easygoing guy.
I can be a bit of an escape artist with shorter kennels (thanks to some clever dog friends), and I could use a little work on leash manners, but overall I’m a laid-back pup who just wants a chance to shine. I mean… who doesn’t love a Lab? I do go out in groups with other dogs and enjoy playing, but I like to be one of the top dogs in the group. I also have that classic Lab personality and would make a really great family dog.

I’m great with kids and I do well with other dogs too. I’m fixed and currently go out with a few other dogs in playgroup, where I love being playful and goofy with my friends.
Unfortunately, I was just brought back to the shelter, but my previous home gave me lots of amazing experiences. I went hiking, kayaking, running, and joined in on all kinds of adventures. Because of that, I know I’d thrive with an active family that enjoys getting out and doing things together.
I am VERY energetic, so I’d love a home that can keep up with my fun-loving personality. I also love food and treats, which makes me eager to learn new things. If my brain slows down long enough, I already know how to sit and wait like a good boy. I am a young dude with a whole lot of energy and personality. I love playing with toys and then proudly hoarding every single one of them onto my bed like they are my prized possessions. One of my favorite things to do is tear through the yard with the funniest full-speed zoomies. Running, jumping, and flying through the grass is basically my specialty.
Even though I have plenty of energy, I also know how to relax. After a good play session, you'll usually find me stretched out, catching up on a long, well-earned nap before I'm ready for my next adventure.
I am still learning some manners like walking nicely on a leash and coming when called, but I am young and figuring things out as I go. I would do best with an active family that understands young dogs need structure, patience, and plenty of ways to burn off all my energy.
When it comes to other dogs, I seem to prefer female dogs or dogs that are more submissive, as my playful personality can be a bit much for some. I am not a fan of cats, so I will need a feline-free home.

I came to the shelter looking like I had been well cared for. I even had a registered microchip, but unfortunately the phone numbers connected to it were no longer in service, so no one came to claim me. Even with that disappointment, I've stayed a happy, loving boy who enjoys spending time with people and soaking up all the attention I can get. Once I bond with my people, I absolutely love their affection and will gladly stay by your side for pets and quality time. I'm a decently active guy who enjoys getting out to explore, but I'm also happy to settle down and relax after some exercise.
I'm decent on a leash, know how to sit, shake, and lay down, and I keep my kennel nice and tidy, which is a great sign that I may already be house trained. I can be reactive around other dogs, especially male dogs, and I do not do well with small dogs. I haven't had the chance to be introduced to a calm, submissive female dog yet, so the staff are still learning how I do in that situation. Because of this, slow and proper introductions would be important. I would thrive with an owner who will continue reinforcing my training, provide me with regular exercise, and give me plenty of love and attention. I came to the shelter as a stray, and unfortunately no one ever came looking for me. I have a little life experience under my belt, and I like to think I'm a pretty easygoing guy. I keep a tidy kennel, walk well on a leash, and I'm generally a quiet dog. I go out in a small playgroup with other calm dogs that mostly just coexist and don't really bother each other. I also have a kennel mate that I do well with. I enjoy going on walks and don't really pull on the leash, making me an easy walking companion. I've also done well with kids and have a calm, gentle personality that makes me a great fit for a quieter home. I'm a fun, energetic boy who is ready to find a home of my own. When I arrived at the shelter, I already had everything I needed to be someone's pet—I was neutered, had a microchip, and I appear to be mostly house-trained. Unfortunately, my microchip isn't registered to a working phone number, and the address listed isn't valid, so the staff believes I may have been abandoned by my previous owner.
I'm an active guy who gets excited easily and enjoys getting out for walks. I walk well on a leash and love the chance to stretch my legs and explore. I absolutely love toys and durable chews, and they're some of my favorite ways to keep busy. Because I can get worked up, I'll do best with an owner who can give me structure, exercise, and help me channel my energy in positive ways.
At the shelter, I can be barrier reactive, meaning I may bark or get overly excited when I'm behind a kennel door or fence. Once I'm out and spending time with people, I'm much easier to handle.
